Would you like to become a better storyteller and learn about the art of personal storytelling while improving your English at the same time?

‘Storyworthy Book Program’ is an online group program for intermediate and advanced learners of English that can help you become a more skillful storyteller and communicator both in English and in your first language.

You’ll read key chapters of ‘Storyworthy’, a fascinating book by Matthew Dicks, an award-winning master storyteller from the US, and discuss them online with me and a small group of English learners from around the world.

But you’ll not just read and discuss. You’ll also apply the theory from the book to craft a personal story on which you’ll and receive feedback from me and your peers.

You’ll have to prepare a personal story in English and tell it from beginning to end.

the basic elements of a personal story
how and where to find personal stories that already exist in my life
how to create stories and make them interesting for the people who are listening to me
that there's a story in every single day of my life
how my personal stories can help me in life (in romantic relationships, at work, with friends and family, with strangers, at social events, etc.)

I took part in Stolaroid book club because I was thinking that it would be a new challenge in my English-learning experience. The club fulfilled my expectations completely. Firstly, I love the book we had been reading. It’s a brilliant manual for creating good stories. Secondly, at the end of our club course, we told our stories to each other, analysed them and tried to make them better. And thirdly, to do all of those tasks, we had to read, write stories, and discuss them. I believe that it’s the best way to learn and practice English! On top of that, it was fun! So now I definitely recommend joining Stolaroid book club to improve English and meet wonderful people!

How does it work?

Phase 1 (5 group sessions)

Read

Read the assigned chapters in your own time BEFORE we meet online. You'll receive reading worksheet to organise your ideas and record vocabulary.
Meet and Discuss

Meet me and your group (max 6 people) to discuss what you read, share ideas and tell personal stories. I'll moderate the conversation and give you language feedback too. Well meet on Zoom 5 times for 1 hour.
Telegram Chat

Keep the conversation going between sessions in a private Telegram channel. Ask all the questions you want about the vocabulary used in the book or anything else you have doubts about.

Phase 2 (3 weeks with me)

Craft your story

Work with me and write your personal story. You'll receive unlimited feedback both on language and content for 3 weeks.
Tell it!

Send me recordings of yourself telling your story and receive unlimited feedback on pronunciation and delivery.
Chance to be my podcast guest

Depending on your story (and if you want to), I might invite you on an episode of Stolaroid Stories, where you'll share your story with the world.

The online meetings helped me to carry on reading the book without procrastinating in order to keep up with the rest of the group. Discussing the main topics of the book with others and listening to their personal experiences brought out lots different perspectives and points of view that I wouldn't have thought about otherwise. I found the book itself really interesting and full of inspirational knowledge about storytelling, not only on how to develop and tell stories, but also on how to find them in your everyday life. Fabio was an awesome moderator, always keeping the conversation going and stimulating all of us to express ourselves.

I really liked the atmosphere of a real book club in which all the members bring their best ideas on how to build a good story. I learned that if you want to tell a touching and captivating story there are some important rules to follow. It was good for my English because in thinking and telling stories you are always learning new words, idioms and phrases as well as listening to other stories and learn. I enjoyed a lot because all the member are involved into the conversation and it motivates you to speak. Fabio is a great moderator and a good teacher who is able to instill passion in the participants.

It was an amazing opportunity to read a great book together with nice interesting people. If you want to practise storytelling, this club is the best place. Thank you, Fabio, for this idea. It was interesting and useful.

It's surprising to me that I got a lot of ideas about how to find grateful and amazing things in life after joining the book club! Also, it's inspired me to write my story!! I'm very thankful that there was a group and we could speak about and discuss the book.

I've already started writing stories to share with my close ones. I took notes about the book and then reused them during the call, which is great to memorize new concepts or vocabulary. I enjoyed sharing my understanding and views on the book with other members. This really helps when you acquire new knowledge and skills.
