The Only 7 Reasons Why I Have a Podcast, a Blog, a Substack, and a YouTube Channel

1. I can talk about what I don’t always get to talk about in the real world.

2. I enjoy sharing ideas and stories that may be useful to some people. This is also a way to attract people I can have great conversations with.

3. If I want to sell a product or service, having an audience helps. Sharing ideas and stories online is a fun way to build an audience.

4. Knowing that next week I’ll have to upload a new video/podcast keeps me thinking and noticing things. It also keeps me listening to my audience and learning from other people (that’s why I read the comments). The same applies to my weekly writing on Substack.

5. A blog keeps me writing and thinking too. I need, want, and enjoy thinking, writing, and noticing things that lie beneath the surface.

6. I get to know interesting people. Occasionally, I get to talk to famous people I admire. Who wouldn’t want to talk to their heroes?

7. It’s a way to keep my English alive. (English is my second language.)

I enjoy creating regardless of what the analytics and stats say. Of course getting views, comments, subscribers, reads, and downloads is cool. But if my main goal was to get as many of them as possible, I would start doing silly things. I would start pretending to be someone I’m not and say things I don’t truly believe.

That would interfere with my creation process, which I’ve made as enjoyable and easy as possible.

Still, I f*cking hate making YouTube thumbnails.

That I do not enjoy.
